NASSAU COUNTY, NY: The New York GOP is starting off the 2022 election cycle on a dangerous foot – touting the same hatred, lies and division that led to attacks on our democracy. Led by none other than Trump’s top defender and ally, Lee Zeldin, the New York GOP Convention was a full-blown embrace of Donald Trump and his support for right-wing extremism, abortion bans, and election conspiracies.

1. Lee Zeldin voted against certifying the 2020 election results and actively supported legal efforts to overturn the election.

2. Lee Zeldin served as Donald Trump’s top defender after January 6th and was the only member of the Long Island congressional delegation to vote against creating a commission to investigate the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

3. Lee Zeldin has repeatedly voted against legislation that would protect voting rights and supports discriminatory voter ID laws that would make it harder for New Yorkers — especially those from Black and Brown communities — to vote.
