FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 10, 2022

NASSAU COUNTY, NY:  Ahead of tomorrow’s anniversary of President Joe Biden signing the American Rescue Plan into law, new data shows that 219,000 people in New York State are now seeing reduced health care costs — no thanks to every single Republican member of New York’s congressional delegation, which unanimously voted against the relief law. Ahead of the ARP anniversary, New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay S. Jacobs has released the following statement:

“This news comes as Republicans have doubled down on their promise to deliver an agenda of hiking taxes and raising health insurance premiums if they take power in November.  On Monday, Republican Senator Ron Johnson confirmed that some Republicans still want to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“That would mean that 100 million Americans with preexisting conditions would lose insurance protections, Americans with private insurance could see their premiums skyrocket, 21 million Americans would lose their insurance, and more.  Meanwhile, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Rick Scott’s agenda would raise taxes on 38.5% of New Yorkers.

“Since President Biden and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan was signed into law a year ago this week, 219,000 New Yorkers have seen their health care costs go down — no thanks to a single Republican in Congress.

“It’s simple: while Democrats are working to lower costs for Americans, Republicans are running on an agenda of tax hikes and raised premiums.
