“Congressman Lawler and his MAGA Republicans passed a budget that includes substantial cuts to drinking water and clean water revolving funds, the main source of funding for our nation’s water and wastewater systems,” said Jones. “House Republican spending proposals supported by Mike Lawler threatens the very safety of the lower Hudson Valley’s water and waste water systems.”

Lawler’s Monday press release pointed to $8 million in federal funding for local water projects approved in late July through the House Community Projects program, including a sewer project in North Salem and a water main replacement in Ossining…..

Jones warned that the federal cuts pushed by House Republicans follows the US Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this year that curtailed the power of administrative agencies, like the Environmental Protection Agency.

“That decision overturned generations of legal precedent, and it will gut environmental regulations,” Jones said.
