NEW YORK REPUBLICANS VOTE AGAINST ADDRESSING BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE
New York State Republican Members of Congress voted against a bill to help alleviate baby formula shortages
NEW YORK, NY: New York State Republicans including Reps. Lee Zeldin, Andrew Garbarino, Chris Jacobs, Nicole Malliotakis, Elise Stefanik, and Claudia Tenney voted against the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, which would provide emergency funding to address the shortage of infant formula in the United States. Every New York Democrat voted for the bill.
“As Democrats are moving quickly to pass legislation that would help families and address the shortage of baby formula, New York State Republicans are all talk and no action when it comes to making sure we have the resources necessary to deal with this shortage,” said James Martin, spokesman for the NYS Democratic Party. “This vote is yet another example of how New York Republicans aren’t interested in actually taking action to address the current formula shortfall and prevent this from happening again – they’re more interested in using New York families’ struggles for their own political gain and pushing their radical, ultra-MAGA agenda.
This “no” vote is the latest in a long pattern of Republicans actively working against solutions. Earlier this year, 193 House Republicans, including all New York Republicans, voted against capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month, while every New York Democrat supported the bill. Additionally, every congressional Republican voted against the American Rescue Plan, which has saved New Yorkers money on everything from their health care premiums to rent or mortgage to child care costs, and more.
